Owen Wall was born in Battersea.
He left school at 15 and although he had no
formal art education his creative talents were
recognised when he went for an interview at
one of London's top Advertising Agencies, where
he was offered a job as a junior in the art
department.
He worked there throughout
the 60's and early 70's, producing campaigns
for BOAC (now British Airways), Huntley &
Palmers, Watneys Ale, Frigidaire, Frys Chocolate,
British Oxygen and Ideal Standard.
During this period he developed
his love of music, in particular the Drums and
together with some friends from the Agency,
he formed a Jazz group and could regularly be
found rehearsing at the local recording studios
in Marylebone High Street.
In 1965 he married and fulfilled
his childhood dream of moving to Kent, where
he now lives in a small hamlet just outside
Canterbury.
In the late 70's he decided
to set up his own graphics and advertising business
in Canterbury and over the past 25 years has
successfully combined this with his love of
painting and photography.
His technique is informal
and his paintings have many different textures
giving them depth and character. He works mainly
with acrylics and is inspired by scenes of everyday
life, especially social gatherings.
